November 4th Distribution Day – PetSmart Continues to Step In & Fill the Gap with their ‘Buy a Bag, Give a Meal Program!’

DISTRIBUTION DAY FOR UPF

PetSmart continues to step in and fill the gap with their 'Buy a Bag, Give a Meal Program!'


WHAT?

The next 2017 UPF Resource Center Distribution Day will be Saturday, November 4th, 2017, from 2-5pm.

Through the generosity of PetSmart, Arm & Hammer, Hartz Mt., & Rescue Bank, we are ready to 'spread the wealth of pet food and other resources!'

Many of you may have heard about PetSmart's "Buy a Bag, Give a Meal" program this summer (BABGAM). Well, the 'GAM' rewards are continuing. UPF has been fortunate through its relationship with Rescue Bank to get more of the BABGAM dog and cat food to distribute to its members. It comes as no surprise that 80% of it is dog food, but we will do our best to split the limited cat food evenly to the first organizations that apply to attend this distribution. The cat and dog foods are in special 38# bags created especially for this donation.

The wonderful news is that the pet food from the BABGAM program will be distributed at no charge. PetSmart food is equivalent to their Authority Brand of food. PetSmart may also have a PR event associated with this donation, and representatives will be on hand for you to thank personally again. Be on the lookout!

As always MARTHA's CORNER at the UPFRC is stocked with surprises and growing. Other items also available include Nyantomo Litter Boxes and Pads, Hartz Mountain puppy pads, pet supplies, office supplies, etc. Each day we may get a call or an email for another opportunity to take in donations.

Arm & Hammer has stepped to the plate again, and we have Clump & Seal cat litter from them. The boxes say 38#, but they are actually the lighter version, and half that weight. We appreciate Church & Dwight (makers of Arm & Hammer cat litter) for making this contribution to the UPF Resource Center.

For those who like the Chewy.com mixed pallets, we will have 12 large pallets of those coming in (first come - first served). Those will be sold on a whole-pallet-weight basis. Our great relationship with the Humane Society of Indianapolis has made this possible. Thank you HSOI!

Rescue Bank got into the act again, and we will have up to 6 pallets of First Mate dog food available in 33# bags.....a Light adult version and also a Lamb and Rice version. We need to know if you would like to get some of this food in addition to the PetSmart food...a 10 cents/lb. administrative fee will apply to this food.

THE CHEWY.COM, ARM & HAMMER LITTER, AND RESCUE BANK FOOD ARE STILL AT 10 CENTS PER POUND.

HARTZ MT. PUPPY PADS ARE STILL AT NO CHARGE.

Please remember to send in your most recent census to us so that we can appropriately get the correct amount of resources to your group. Some groups have been forgetting to send their census, and we do need it!

4. You can also call the UPF phone number at (513)520-7571 and leave the information as stated above to claim your place for the day. We will still need your census by Sunday night, October 29th, 6 pm.

Deadline to hear back from UPF Members is 6 PM, Sunday, October 29, 2017 (unless you use Snail Mail). If we do not hear from you by then, we will assume you are not coming. Please don't delay your response!

If for a good reason you cannot attend the Saturday, November 4th, Distribution Day, let us know early on, and we will work with you to meet you at a mutually agreeable time.


OTHER UPF NEWS

  • UPF Mini Seminar to be held Monday night, November 6th at the UPF Resource Center. Topic will be KITTEN BOTTLE FEEDING AND KITTEN CARE SEMINAR. Presenter will Sharon Ollinger. A downloadable PDF Registration form can be obtained by clicking the link above. Sign-in the night of the seminar will begin at 6:30 pm, and presentation will begin at 7:00 pm. Length of presentation will be around 2 hours. Notes available the night of the seminar.

  • A good number of UPF Members have their memberships that are coming due, or are past due. We hope to streamline this process soon so that you are given a month’s advance notice that your membership is due. You will be getting an email reminder from Zoho, and it you want to pay on-line, this will be done through Stripe. Do remember that in any new or renewal of membership, we will need to have the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) filled out and returned to UPF with your dues. Our hope is that we return a generous ‘return on your investment’ when you pay your membership fee. For you to participate in this upcoming Distribution Day, you have to be current on your UPF membership dues.

  • Martha C. is gearing up for her corner store to make pet supplies available and presentable to our members. New shelving and an easier shopping experience will make it a cinch to get your supplies picked out with a VERY reasonable price. By the end of the year we will be moving Martha's Store to a more accessible part of the warehouse, and we are looking forward to it!

  • Ten Thousand Villages in the Shops at Harper’s Point is hosting a shopping benefit for United Pet Fund…SIP and SHOP. On Friday, November 3rd from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, not only will your purchase benefit artisans around the world, it will also help support and empower animal shelters right here in Cincinnati. This is a great time to start your holiday shopping while enjoying some refreshments and have 15% of your purchase will be donated to us.   • Ten Thousand Villages’ mission is to provide vital, fair income to craftspeople in the developing world by marketing their handicrafts and telling their stories in North America. The sale of these products helps to provide a fair wage for the artisans and enables them to pay for food, education, health care, and housing. Ten Thousand Villages is located at 11316 Montgomery Rd. in the Harper’s Point Shopping Center behind deSha’s and Johnny Chan restaurants. Their hours are 10-8 Monday-Friday, 10-5 Saturday and 12-5 on Sunday. If interested, you may pre-shop the week of the event and your items can be held until the night of the event.
